Renewables
We are MCS (micro regeneration scheme) certified which gives homeowners access to government grants and ensures quality of workmanship.
There are many reasons to consider installing low carbon technology in your home or community. However to promote the uptake of small-scale renewable and low-carbon technologies, there are a range of incentives and grants available. Your eligibility may be dependent on where you live and the technology type.
With energy costs constantly rising and climate change affecting us all – low-carbon technology has a bigger and bigger role to play in the future of UK energy.
Climate change and rising energy costs are two things that many of us worry about. It’s easy to feel powerless but there are positive steps you can take that are really worth looking into.
Renewable, ‘home-grown’ energy is increasingly affordable and gives you the opportunity to heat and/or power your home, independent from external suppliers. From solar panels to wind turbines, biomass boilers to heat pumps, there are different solutions to suit different needs – whatever home, building or land that you have.
Generating your own energy reduces your dependence on traditional fossil fuels – lowering your energy bills and protecting you and your family, or community, from ever spiralling costs. Additionally, you could make a financial return from your investment in home-grown energy; either by being paid for excess energy that you generate or through the Renewable Heat Incentive.
Something that’s home-grown is also something you can take pride in. By investing in renewable energy technology you’ll be making a real contribution to the global fight against climate change. You’ll also be helping the UK meet its recent commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and supporting the country’s growing ‘green economy’.
Town gas are offering supply, design and installation of Solar Thermal, Heat pumps and micro CHP boilers including the Viessman Hydrogen fuel cell boiler and we would love to help you reduce your carbon footprint and fuel bills.
Solar Thermal Systems
Solar water heating systems, or 'solar thermal' systems, use free heat from the sun to warm domestic hot water. The heating systems use solar panels, called collectors, fitted to your roof. These collect heat from the sun and use it to heat up water which is stored in a hot water cylinder. A boiler or immersion heater can be used as a back-up to heat the water further to reach the temperature you want.
What are the benefits?
- Hot water throughout the year. The system works all year round, though you'll need to top up the heat with a boiler or immersion heater during the winter months.
- Reduced energy bills. Sunlight is free, so once you've paid for the initial installation your hot water costs will be reduced.
- Lower carbon footprint. Solar hot water is a green, renewable heating system and can reduce your carbon dioxide emissions.
- Following an initial outlay, a typical family homeowner will see a return on investment within 4-5 years.
Rainwater Harvesting
Rainwater harvesting is the collection, filtration, storage and use of rainwater from a building’s roof. Integrated into the normal drainage system, water is easily intercepted and diverted to where it is required.
From individual homes and gardens, to large industrial sites and multi-house developments, our rainwater harvesting systems can be tailored to meet any requirement.
With appropriate filtration, the stored water may be used in a variety of ways throughout the home and garden, and has many applications for commercial, industrial and agricultural use. Using rainwater also has the beneficial effect in reducing stormwater run-off.
Being naturally soft, rainwater is ideal for many purposes and is especially beneficial in hard water areas such as the New Forest. Town Gas provides a range of solutions to meet your exact needs. So, whether you’re looking for friendly advice, technical knowledge, or you just want to learn more, we are here to help.
Domestic Systems
Domestic rainwater harvesting systems can save up to 50% of water consumption within the average home. Water can be used for toilet flushing, washing clothes, garden watering and car washing. The average family of four will pay around £390 per year on their water bills. Meaning, in just a handful of years, your rainwater harvesting system would have paid for itself.
Garden Systems
Rainwater is naturally soft and chlorine-free, so is ideal for plants and ponds. It’s also great for washing the car. Garden rainwater harvesting systems provide water that is much better for the garden than mains water. When correctly filtered and stored, there is no discolouration or algal growth.
In addition, our BPEC Energy Efficiency training means we are well aware of the importance of making your home as efficient as possible without compromising on your comfort.
